Spa overview
Vabali Spa Hamburg is the newest addition to the popular German spa chain, opening in summer 2022 in Glinde, Schleswig-Holstein. This 36,000-square-meter wellness facility is designed to resemble a traditional Balinese village, complete with Indonesian-inspired architecture, Buddha figures, bamboo plants, and aromatic incense. The spa creates an authentic Far Eastern atmosphere that transports visitors away from the bustling city life of Hamburg to a serene tropical retreat.
Located approximately 20 kilometers east of Hamburg, the spa sits on pastoral land surrounded by old trees and green meadows, adjacent to the Golf Gut Glinde golf course. As Germany's third Vabali location (following Berlin and Düsseldorf), the Hamburg facility uniquely combines the day spa experience with an integrated four-star hotel, making it perfect for extended wellness retreats.

Frequently asked questions
What is the nude spa policy?
Vabali Spa Hamburg operates as a completely textile-free facility. Swimwear is strictly prohibited in all pools and saunas for hygiene and traditional German sauna culture reasons. Outside of pools and saunas, guests must cover themselves with towels or bathrobes. Bathrobes are mandatory in the restaurant and lounge areas.
How does social nudity work?
The nudity at Vabali is non-sexualized and focused purely on wellness. Germans view sauna nudity as natural and equalizing - "without clothes, all people are equal regardless of origin or social status". First-time visitors should know that nobody stares or makes others uncomfortable; nudity is simply treated as normal. Staff enforce rules against inappropriate behavior, and guests displaying excessive physical affection may be asked to use private areas.
What should I bring?
- Large towel for sitting/lying down (mandatory in saunas for hygiene)
- Second towel for drying off
- Flip-flops or slippers (going barefoot is not permitted)
- Bathrobe (can be rented for additional fee if you don't own one)
- Water bottle (non-breakable bottles allowed)

Upon arrival, you'll receive a wristband for cashless payments throughout the facility. All valuables must be stored in assigned lockers. Mobile phones and camera-enabled devices are strictly prohibited except in the reception area. You must shower thoroughly before entering any spa facilities.

What about massages?
All massage treatments require spa entry (minimum 2-hour pass) and must be booked in advance. Massage duration is credited toward your spa visit time. Arrival 30-60 minutes before your appointment is recommended.
Are there age restrictions?
The spa is accessible to children from age 12 when accompanied by parents. Hotel guests must be at least 12 years old. The facility is not suitable for very young children due to the adult-oriented nude environment.
