Praia de Barra Seca Nude Beach

Secluded naturist beach in northern Espírito Santo where you cross a river by boat to reach pristine sand and sea under an official naturism designation.

Nude Beach Overview

Located on a small island-like stretch between the river and the Atlantic Ocean in the municipality of Linhares (though some sources list neighbouring São Mateus), this naturist beach offers a true back-to-nature experience.

The setup is relatively low-key: a broad sweep of sand backed by native vegetation, meeting the surf of the Atlantic and the flow of the adjacent river. Over the years it has become recognized as the only beach in the state of Espírito Santo dedicated to naturism.

Historically the beach evolved from naturist enthusiasts seeking a relatively undisturbed site, and today it is managed in coordination with the local naturist association. Infrastructure is modest: camp-style facilities in dunes, simple shelters and showers, and a strong ethos of respect, privacy and self-responsibility.

Among its interesting features: the river-to-sea setting, the sense of remoteness, and the formal naturist designation which places it among Brazil’s recognized naturist beaches.

How to Get There

By public transport: From Linhares, you would take a bus or other transport along BR-101 heading north to the turn-off for Pontal do Ipiranga.

At Pontal you need to board a small boat crossing the river (Rio Ipiranga) to the beach area. Note: bus schedules may be infrequent and the boat transfer may not operate like a regular ferry service, so plan ahead.

By car: Drive via BR-101 north from Linhares, turn toward Pontal do Ipiranga, then continue on the local unpaved (dirt/gravel) access road toward the river crossing.

At the river bank you park and take a boat across. After crossing, a short drive (if a track allows) or walk leads to the dunes and the beach area. The unpaved road may be challenging in wet weather.

By foot: Not practical. Because the main access requires a river crossing by boat and the location is fairly remote from any major hiking trail, walking all the way is not recommended.
